    1. I love books like this It combine two of my favourite things books and trivia Lots of little literary gems here Nice layout, nice images The content flows nicely it doesn t just feel like a dump of tidbits.

    2. Literary Miscellany is divided into three sections Writers, Readers, and WorksPart 1 explores forms of storytelling, their historical origin, and significance It talks about how writers earned and still do their living before they made enough money to make it their only occupation, what fueled their creativity and what were their writing habits I learned that autobiographies are or less the reality tv of its day, why most successful novelists make poor screenplay writers and what defines a shor [...]

    3. I had much higher hopes for this volume It wasn t bad, it just didn t quite have the substance I was looking for This is of a light, literature trivia for dummies kind of read Not that there s anything wrong with that, as long as you know that up front This presents itself as a serious work, and in my opinion, it s not When says that it touches on great works , they re not kidding There isn t a truly in depth discussion on anything I did like the quotes and some of the trivia boxes scattered t [...]

    4. Great book for kids or a primer for those who don t read much For bookworms or those who ve read the classics a few times though, this book doesn t offer much There are bits of trivia peppered all over the book which saved it from a one star rating from me.This book is like a veggie burger it looks nice but is ultimately bland.

    5. Some interesting but pretty odd essays on literature What do Homer and Jay Z have in common Wy don t today s writers have as many groupies as Lord Byron What other uncontrollable monsters did Dr Frankenstein invent essay on the birth and spread of science fiction.

    6. Fun romp through the history of literature, with sections on the history of the bard, odes, book burning banning, science fiction, and famous feuds.

    7. Many facts I did not know, and I am a language and literature instructor Very interesting read for all of us who enjoy reading information that is not usually found in most books.

    8. Really fun read The information about writer s writing habits and vices were some of my favorite
