    1. I am not sorry I read this book, but I feel like it was a teaser that mostly left me thirsting for detail This book is solidly popular science without a single equation Unfortunately, I think that in the effort to keep it simple, Zirker ended up repeatedly leaving issues so superficially explained that I felt like I didn t really understand anything You might be able to impress someone by rote memorizing and regurgitating his description of the physical phenomena described, but I think any read [...]

    2. The first chapter is a great overview of magnetism, but the rest of the book is highly technical I wish I could say I d finished this, but I didn t Unless you are a Ph.D scientist studying magnetism, I don t think you ll enjoy this book.

    3. The book gives a nice introduction to magnetic fields appearing in different astrophysical contexts along with historical background.

    4. This is well written and comprehensive, but it s not for the layperson Even with my science background I had trouble getting through it.
