    1. Two and a half stars rounding up This historical fiction, loosely based on a true story, was written in a style that was just too simple and straightforward for me, at a time when I was hoping for something complex and layered The love story is very tame the couple is already married but spends most of the book apart from each other, due to the shipwreck The women and children were rescued very quickly, but there weren t enough lifeboats and the men were, with very few exceptions, left to fend [...]

    2. The Deepest Waters by Dan Walsh is a book you will love to read and reread This book was inspired by a true story and I found it fascinating I really like books written around a true story There s something about truth and fiction together that really makes great reading I like the tenderness, compassion and love of God the two main characters have Each chapter is full of action, suspense and tender feelings The Deepest Waters is not only one story, but several in one book This is the third book [...]

    3. After reading The Homecoming I was excited to see that Dan Walsh had published another book When I saw that it was a sea faring adventure I must admit I was a bit apprehensive While I enjoy new plots, characters, and settings, I didn t want to read a book that was so inundated with plot specific jargon that I didn t understand half of what was going on I needn t have worried, though Deepest Waters has a five star plot and an amazing setting John and Laura Foster are on their honeymoon when they [...]

    4. I like his style of writing and also like the fact that this novel was inspired by a documentary about the SS Central America, a paddle wheel steamship that sank off of North Carolina in Sept 1857 Most of his characters are fictitious and most of his plot points as well But, many of the incidents did really happen He researched a number of books about the shipwreck and then began his novel It is written from a Christian perspective as are his other novels as he was a pastor for 25 years.Very enj [...]

    5. The Deepest Waters was a powerful, poignant story of two people newlyweds on their honeymoon who experience a life and death situation Their ship is sinking How awful is that to experience mere days after you have just been married Be prepared for an interesting adventure with these two wonderful characters Dan doesn t ease us into the story he dumps us into the scene shortly after Laura and all the women on the ship have been rescued by another ship passing by As Laura morns the separation, the [...]

    6. The Deepest Waters is a wonderful story, inspired by an actual shipwreck that occurred in 1857 off the coast of North Carolina Dan Walsh has taken the factual framework from a real life tragic event and created a compelling and ultimately heart warming tale When newlyweds John and Laura Foster are separated on their honeymoon voyage, their hopes and dreams for a long life together are shattered But that is where the real story begins hopes of rescue are tempered by the hardships of facing the fu [...]

    7. It was pretty good The plot was exciting and kept moving, and there were some good characters But the romance aspect felt pretty flat to me, and the bad guy parts were really cheesy, like a soap opera character swearing to get revenge dun dun dun I felt like it could have been so much better tons of potential, but the writing, especially when talking about how people felt, was a lot of telling rather than showing Make me feel what they feel, don t just come right out and say that they re so in l [...]

    8. This is the third book I have read by this author, and I have loved them all This may be my favorite so far I like Dan Walsh s writing style He uses different points of view, including secondary characters, and pulls them all together beautifully at the end There s a good message in his stories, and he always shows how God is working in amazing ways Make sure you read the author s notes at the end I knew this book was based on a true event, but I didn t realize the part that shows God at work wa [...]

    9. SplendidIt s almost unbelievable, hence my rating of four stars Still, tuck it away, because I believe this story will remain Vividly written, with moments of tears and others of shear delight, not to mention a good dose or two of fright Memorable characters, both good and evil Crabby the dog may well be my favorite.

    10. Tender StoryThis is another wonderful book by Dan Walsh The fact that it is inspired by true events makes it even better There are some storylines that make you think nah that s unbelievable only to find out that really did happen Great book Read it you won t be disappointed.

    11. One of the parts of the book which I found to be rather unbelievable was in truth fact In reading the after thoughts of the author, it seems he had read it as an actual happening in this historical ship wreck.

    12. This book has everything I love in a good story Adventure, romance, plot twists, and a HEA Love it.

    13. God saw us throughDan Walsh has another best seller Laura and John Foster was in the dream honeymoon on a beautiful ship that would take them from San Francisco to New York Everything was beautiful, sunsets like they had never seen before, waters calm, and food good The weather has been beautiful, but all of a sudden the weather changed because of a hurricane You must read to see if Laura and or John made it, who was there to help them, how God provided the help needed I could not put the book d [...]

    14. What surprised me about this full of coincidence book was the pets of the story that were actually true He was inspired by the story of a steamship wreck and used a few facts as the bare bones of his story It was full of crazy coincidence, but the author made it believable It was a quick enjoyable read and I was inspired by the joy of the Lord that one of the main characters, a slave, lived in every moment.

    15. When I read, I usually read a few books at a time, going back and fourth from book to book But this book was read straight through I loved reading the story of this young married couple separated at sea I kept reading to see how the couple would be reunited They met lots of problems along the way but were eventually re united It was a wonderfully sweet and hopeful book that shows the power of God

    16. Beautiful storyI enjoyed this book a lot The book made me feel the highs and lows of Laura and what her life would be like after losing John Micah is another wonderful character that tugged at my heart I recommend this book to anyone wanting a tale of despair in the present while struggling to remain hopeful for the future.

    17. Heartwarming story It s been a while since I ve read a Christian novel This was a heartwarming story that was inspired by true facts miracles that only God could provide I enjoyed getting to know the hearts of the main characters and was reminded of what s most important in life.

    18. Whether writing a sentimental contemporary novel Remembering Christmas , an action packed suspense thriller When Night Comes , or inspired by a true story historical fiction like this, Dan Walsh consistently delivers a well crafted five star narrative with very few distractibg grammatical or spelling errors My inner Grammar Nazi appreciates that.

    19. Amazing story I loved this historical novel It was a great read and kept my interest throughout the book Each character and their story was so interesting At the very end you must read the author s notes which has its own surprise Highly recommend

    24. When I first saw it has something to do with a ship in 1857, somehow Robinson Crusoe came to mind, albeit that story was set in the mid 1600 s, and I thought, well I dunno But, since I d already read The Discovery by Dan Walsh and loved it, I decided there s a good chance I ll like it Like it Oh, my word, it is awesome The Deepest Waters, inspired by true historical events in the mid 1800 s, is riveting and difficult from which to disengage The plot is suspenseful and intense The message is comp [...]

    25. Dan Walsh in his new book, The Deepest Waters published by Revell gives us a romantic story of a love tested by disaster.Dan Walsh takes us to 1857 and begins to relate to us the story of John and Laura Foster who have been newlyweds for three weeks They have taken the SS Vandervere and the steamship encounters a hurricane They survive the hurricane but the Vandervere is sinking Just when it appears there is no hope for anyone the Cutlass appears to rescue them However, there is a problem the sm [...]

    26. Follow newlyweds John and Laura as they struggle to survive a shipwreck that was inspired by the sinking of the SS Central America off the North Carolina shore in 1857.I enjoyed the simple plot and was pleasantly surprised to learn that many of the situations were based off of true events The rating of a three, rather than a five, is due to some awkwardness with the writing style For example, in many spots it appears as though the narration is being given by a character based upon the dialect of [...]

    27. I was thankful to receive a review copy of such a heart wrenching story of faith, hope and unconditional love Set in 1845 when men were gentlemen and women were ladies It was a time when ocean liners were fun and luxurious to ride on Newlyweds John and Laura Foster were embarking on their new life together aboard the SS Vandervere for the most romantic honeymoon voyage ever All was wedded bliss until tragedy strikes the ocean liner The SS Vandervere is damaged beyond repair With only hours befor [...]
