    1. Hurry it up, you two I mean it Like seriously Hurry I mean seriously This couple took entirely too long to get to where they needed to be going Chances are, since this was a shortish book, it really didn t take too long, they were just annoying Setting Time Genre RegencySeries Who knowst I Sexy times Well done, Ms Burns, well done These were naughty, naughty for regency times If the words hot honey and cream offend you unless you are reading an Alexa Riley, you best ignore this book Plan on read [...]

    2. This was not a badly written book but the story was a bit lame and I found the characters lacked the depth and complexity that I have come to demand from my HR books.

    3. 2.5 starsIt was decent, with some pretty steamy scenes, but some things just stopped me from fully enjoying it.For one, they fell in love way too quickly, and I really didn t know why they fell in love most of the time And then there was the whole sappiness I don t know, maybe I just wasn t in the mood for Oh, your loved saved me , without your love I , I can t live without you , you re like the air I breath.Don t get me wrong, I love romances, and they re usually with those sentiments, but I do [...]

    4. 3.5 starsOnce again a book I picked up as a freebie has managed to completely surprise me I have always loved myself an historical, and an historical erotic romance is all of my favourite things wrapped up in one big shiny bow In fact if the editing wasn t so bad this story isn t badly written just badly edited this book probably would have made it to four stars Julia is trying to prove her independence after the death of a husband who controlled every part of her life She is completely adamant [...]

    5. I really enjoyed this story, considering it was so short it portrayed a lot of emotion and angst that appeared very realistic I highly recommend it The only negative I have about this book is that the hero says Christ Jesus an awful lot Once I noticed it, it cropped up everywhere and it really annoyed me

    6. I really enjoyed this book It kept me interested until the end Well written and I would recommend this book.

    7. Two years after the death of her abusive husband, Julia Westgard is ready for some reckless adventure to spice up her otherwise boring life so she posed for a portrait, in the nude Though no one but her closest friends will ever view the painting, the thrill of doing something so naughty has left Julia needing to feel that same exhilaration Julia devises a plan to steal a monogrammed handkerchief to sell at auction to help raise money for a local orphanage She is sure the item would bring a tidy [...]

    8. Love s Portrait is a sexy and sweet story about a woman who doesn t want to lose herself to another man and a man who has finally realized that what he has been rejecting all along, is something that he truly wants.Julia s late husband was a controlling and abusive man When he died, Julia vowed to never be under a man s control again In the spirit of doing something daring, Julia posed for a naked portrait No one is to ever see it It is for her eyes only, a way to remind her of the independence [...]

    9. Reading this book is my introduction to the writing of Monica Burns and I m so thankful to the fellow reader who pointed me in her direction.I have always loved historical romance, and Monica definitely knows how to add just the right amounts of heat and passion to her stories. The passion and emotion shared by her main characters, Julia Westgard and Morgan St Claire, can be felt as you read this story, and that s one of the qualities in writing that will keep me coming back for if I can feel an [...]

    10. This is a story of Julia who lost her abusive husband and swore she would never marry Morgan who was a womanizer who left his woman with a handkerchief after he broke up with them Julia decided to steal one of his handkerchiefs and auction it off for the Little Angels orphanage I loved this story, it was well written and I didn t want to put it down I wanted to find out what was happening next You won t be disappointed in this story.I have had the wonderful pleasure of meeting and having dinner [...]

    11. Well, this was something I was totally not expecting Lots of sex, really really steamy sex So if you like that sort of thing, grab this I just picked this up coz I wanted to try something different, and it was at a good price for kindle on So yeah I don t know if I ll read something like this again, maybe in a few years time, but not now.I was kind of expecting it to be mills and boon ey, sooo not mills and boon But yeah, take away the sex and the story line was good.

    12. I believe this book could ve been better if it wasn t so predictable I like the fact that Julia had to overcome everything that her bastard ex husband put her though and it made her an even stronger heroine because of it Morgan St Claire was it for me He was passionate, sweet, strong and persistent He had to overcome his own hurdle do he can accept Julia and chase her like a dog with a bone All the Sweet Jesus s got to me and that s what made me give this book a 3 star instead of 4

    13. I ll preface this review by saying that I simply couldn t finish this book I was reduced to skimming the last third or so because I just couldn t take any This book is billed as a historical erotic romance In my opinion, it s none of those three things.Simply having the heroine wear a corset doesn t make a book historical Anachronisms like the stereotypical red satin sheets on the man s bed Red satin sheets Seriously I laughed out loud made it seem like the story was a contemporary one tweaked [...]

    14. I enjoyed reading this book but the author could have done a better job at writing their past Each character had a past that equated to why they were the way the presently were, yet I never got a good idea as to what exactly happened to them I still enjoyed the story and liked the characters I d read this again, but I wouldn t put this in my permanent book shelf.

    15. Two years after the death of her abusive husband, Julia Westgard is ready for some reckless adventure to spice up her otherwise boring life so she posed for a portrait, in the nude Though no one but her closest friends will ever view the painting, the thrill of doing something so naughty has left Julia needing to feel that same exhilaration Julia devises a plan to steal a monogramed handkerchief to sell at auction to help raise money for a local orphanage She is sure the item would bring a tidy [...]

    16. My First thought when I finished Love s portrait was well crap That was because I said I would not start a new book until after new years once I finished that one and well there is a bit of time left until New years Pushing that asideLove s Portrait introduces us to Julia and Morgan who are both strong and stubborn personalities However they both have their pains and things that hold them back from the happiness they could both have For Julia her now dead Husband Oscar forced her into submission [...]

    17. I wasn t as keen on this as I was on others by this author The others had adventure This one seemed to replace the action with another kind of action, and I m just not into graphic sex scenes unless they re written just so Basic story Julia was married to an abusive schmuck who made her feel horrible about herself He s dead now and she s reviving her self confidence by doing wild and crazy and very out of character things Like posing nude for a portrait which she s not going to let anyone see a [...]

    18. This book was a pleasant surprise It is a re released improved version of the novel Not having read the original verions, I can only guess that the improvements really did improve the story because I really enjoyed it.I instantly connected with and liked the main characters, Julia and Morgan Both come with a ton of emotional baggage that makes them avoid the thought of marriage like the plague What they can t avoid is the intense attraction that they have for each other Once they act on that att [...]

    19. This was really good I m actually really surprised that this was a free read Monica Burns is a talented author Julia is a young beautiful widow who is struggling to overcome the results of years of her former husband s abuse But when Morgan St Claire comes around the gorgeous notorious rake she finds him impossible to resist I really liked the pace of the story and she stayed true to the era though there where some liberties taken but hell it s a romance not a history book so who cares in the en [...]

    20. 3 stars.Historical RomanceMore Images MyNiceProfileCover It good cover You can see it s a historical.Characters I really liked the hero He had some baggage, but deal with it with maturity The heroine, was so so Yes she has had a horrible marriage before, yes she was trying to be daring, yes she played the hot cold game that I don t usually like Plot It had a good plot, with some great moments Not the best book I ve read from the author, but I was amazed that her book was for free on.Heat I would [...]

    21. I debated between 3 stars and 4 stars before deciding on 3.5 stars For the purposes of GR I ve rounded up.Love s Portrait is the story of two people in love Both are cynical against marriage for different reasons Having lost a wager, Julia agrees to a night of passion with Morgan However, by the end of the night Morgan wants , he wants a lifetime Julia refuses to give up her independence to man again Morgan sets out to win Julia s heart and who her that he can be trusted.I enjoyed this story imm [...]

    22. Truthfully what kept me reading was the explicit sexual content The storyline was appealing, however Julia s battle with her trust issues was so repetitive throughout the entire story that it just grated on my nervess, her dead husband was an abusive bastard and instilled these feelings of distrust but from the very beginning Morgan was nothing but tender and sweet with her, treating her gently, physically and emotionally, and telling her I m not like him so it didn t make much sense to me that [...]

    23. Honestly this book not only broke the spell I was under with Fifty Shades of Grey but it introduced me to an enjoyment of historical fiction After reading the Fifty Shade trilogy , I wanted of the same and waded through poor efforts with captions that read if you liked Fifty Shades of Grey then you ll like Of those, there were none that satisfied Then I discovered Love s Portrait This book was a wonderful surprise and I absolutely loved Morgan St Claire and his methodical seduction of Ms Westga [...]

    24. I enjoyed this book but found a few things about it annoying or unbelievable so I only gave it 3 stars Julia s issues with her trust because of her deceased husband were annoying and I just wanted to say get over it already Maybe if Morgan had done something to make her mistrust him it would have been believable Also his use of Christ Jesus Was sooo redundant and very annoying If I were Julia I would have been turned off by this The ending was a bit hurried and abrupt I would have liked somethi [...]

    25. Roz is her own woman, finally free from an abusive husband As an act of defiance, she commissions a nude portrait of herself No one else is supposed to see it except the artist, herself and her best female friend However, sometimes fate has other ideas Morgan is a successful businessman and a womanizer with a reputation of leaving his handkerchief on the pillow of his past conquests One of those hankies might draw a tidy sum at an auction for an orphanage, but he will only relinquish a handkerch [...]

    26. I really liked this book It would have been perfect The story line was a little different Though the brooding sexy, dangerous looking male, was the same The grammar starting off was really good Someone could have proof read it catching any mistakes though the last four or five chapters the grammar and mistakes, misspellings were very frequent It was like whoever edited this book got really lazy or tired at the end And I m no stickler for perfect grammar in ebooks Though it was so often by the en [...]

    27. I really enjoyed this book The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five was because of the battle they each had over their fear of marriage While they were legitimate fears, their reasons for them were repeated over and over to the point where it became a bit annoying at times for about the first half of the book After that the hero resolved his issues, but the heroine continued on for quite a while repeating to herself why she was afraid to remarry Anyway, characters in novels with issu [...]

    28. Absolutely loved this book I loved the characters I feel the author did a wonderful job developing the characters and creating the plot surrounding them I enjoyed the flow of the book, how the reader gets narrations from both main characters not just one It has some nice steamy scenes Its refreshing to find a plus size heroine where there was no derogatory reference of weight or size I LOVED the hero s description of her voluptuousness I made many a highlight I would love it if the author would [...]

    29. It s been a long time since I read anything this bad The edition I read was supposed to be revised with greater character depth I cringe to think what it must have been before revision The plot, such as it is, involves the cliched strong heroine and the equally cliched priapismic alpha hero Both characters are two dimensional and the dialogue is stilted There s plenty of sex but it s repetitive and badly written This book is touted as Historical Erotic Romance , but erotic it s not It does have [...]
