    1. In Madmen s Ball by Mark Heisler the author s message is that The Los Angeles Lakers have had many dysfunctional dynasties while becoming one of the greatest franchise sports history We understand this message through events such as, the Shaq and Kobe feud Unimportant quote from the book is, There s to life that who s team this is, but this is his team so it s time for him to act like it That means no coming into camp fat and out of shape when your team is relying on your leadership on and off [...]

    2. the trading of Shaquille O Neal, the 130 million re signing of the controversy plagued Kobe Bryant, and the departure of legendary coach Phil Jackson, the history of the Los Angeles Lakers entered yet another tumultuous phase in 2004 Few teams in the history of sports have ever been as dysfunctional as the squad Jackson coached during his final season, but as Mark H With the trading of Shaquille O Neal, the 130 million re signing of the controversy plagued Kobe Bryant, and the departure of legen [...]

    3. If you like the Los Angeles Lakers or NBA basketball, you need to read this book Mark Heisler is one of the best basketball writers around, and this is a terrific history of the Laker organization written in an entertaining way I read the original edition, so I can t speak to the newer versions covering the last batch of championships A lot of folks will point to Roland Lazenby s The Show as the Must Read laker book, but I prefer this one base on Heisler s writing and LA perspective.

    4. I guess if you re new to the Lakers, this book is a good start for getting acquainted with Laker history Most of the info is general, but there are some good insider tidbits here and there

    5. Great narrative on the Lakers Highly enjoyed even though I ll never cheer for them, enjoyed the inner workings of this amazing organization
