    1. If you have read Cadfael you should like this, it is the story of a monk promoted to Abbot because of his skill in book keeping Sent out to investigate financial failings in Abbeys he takes with him a young apprentice They learn about one another as the story progresses the young man at times teaching the elder The book is humerous than Cadfael but there is than enough jiggery pokery, murder and similar to make this a sumptuous feast for the first novel about these characters.
