    7. Standing Sideways follows Livia Stone as she learns how to deal with the grief of losing her twin brother in a school shooting She uses drugs and drink and sex as a way of escaping her pain, all the while rebelling against her parents and demonising her therapist Just once I would like to find a YA book where the character has a positive relationship with her therapist or psychologist Just Once You know what else I want For authors to stop making their teenage characters call their parents by th [...]

    13. Losing someone will always be tough to an individual As we start this story we learn that Liv has lost her twin brother, Jasper, and the grief process she lives with is unorthodox but realistic Grief takes us all differently but this book shows us exactly how ugly it can get, even if the rest of the world don t see it Before her brother s death, Liv thought of herself as drive, mature, and in the road to Harvey College After the death, we see that she is falling apart with every minute that pass [...]

    18. I have mixed feelings about this book For the most part, I enjoyed reading it The plot was interesting enough to keep me wanting to read and find out what happened However, it was hard for me to actually get into the book because I didn t really like most of the characters I just couldn t really connect with any of them others than her best friend Cao loved her.Additionally, I found the book a little slow at times and felt as though the writing style was a little off unnecessary i.e Whenever Da [...]
