    1. All of my reviews can be found on novelgossip4.5 5This is the third book in the Kay Hunter series and I ve become such a huge fan of both the protagonist and Amphlett as an author I highly recommend starting at the beginning of the series as all three books are hugely entertaining and Amphlett has the unique ability to not only come up with an interesting premise for each book, but she also perfectly balances Kay s personal and professional life providing a well rounded reading experience This i [...]

    2. My favourite novel in the Detective Kay series, thus far, One to Watch was different from the series previous novels Instead of following Detective Kay as she hunts a rampant serial killer, this one honed in on one case and one dead teenager I loved being able to focus solely on a single murder and to be able to play the whodunit game with the detectives Each character, interesting than the last, reminded me of a game of Clue When a teenaged girl, Sophie, is found dead at her purity party, Dete [...]

    3. 4.5 stars One thing I know for certain about previous books I have read featuring Detective Kay Hunter is, they are fast paced and exciting While One To Watch is both of those things, it s also so much , thus making it my favourite of the series so far This series is marketed as a crime thriller series, and rightly so, but in One To Watch, Amphlett shows just how strong her mystery writing skills are In this case, Kay is not hunting a serial killer but instead person s responsible for a single m [...]

    4. With series come the fear to be disappointed We all have mentioned it at some point in our reviews We don t want the characters we love so much to turn into strangers we don t recognize, strong plots getting nasty holes, and settings being destroyed.Have no fear with the Kay Hunter series, One To Watch is just as good as the two previous books I have no idea how she does it, but Rachel Amphlett masters the ways of building and keeping all elements of her stories strong and consistent. My dear Kay [...]

    5. I read so many series nowadays featuring women police detectives that it takes a lot to stand out for me But this series by Rachel Amphlett is one of my favourites and I m always desperate to get my hands on the next instalment As I ve said before, for police procedural thrillers to work for me I have to really take to the main protagonist and Kay Hunter is just the perfect heroine for me Although she can appear standoffish at times, her tough exterior hides her vulnerability and once you get an [...]

    6. One to Watch is the third book in the DS Kay Hunter series following Scared to Death and Will to Live I found the subject of One to Watch very intriguing, focusing upon the death of 16 year old Sophie Whittaker during a party celebrating her purity pledge and her engagement to Josh For those unfamiliar with the purity pledge , it is a pledge that young girls note not boys take to remain chaste until they are married supported by their father s to provide a positive example Usually taken between [...]

    7. Detective Kay Hunter has to practise the fine art of diplomacy when a rich young girl is found murdered while a colleague betrays her secrets Introduction Detective Kay Hunter 3Sixteen year old Sophie is about to get engaged to Josh, the son of a rich American The ceremony is held in her family home, the Regency built mansion, fitting for Lady Asquith Sophie s mother Before the engagement, Sophie takes a purity pledge a vow before God, taken by Pastor Duncan, indicating that she will stay chaste [...]

    8. Having read and enjoyed the first two books in the DS Kay Hunter series by Rachel Amphlett, I couldn t wait to read the third, One to Watch Now that I finished it, I can only say WOW This thriller is even entertaining and intriguing than the first two Sixteen year old Sophie Whittaker, is brutally murdered at some point during her purity pledge and engagement party During the ceremony, Sophie has vowed to remain chaste until her marriage to an American wealthy boy, Josh Hamilton, whose family b [...]

    9. It was a pleasure to read about DS Kay Hunter and her team once again For those new to this series I m sure I m not dropping any spoilers if I mention that someone within the force is trying to discredit our Kay I was looking forward to seeing whether the author would expand a little , give us a few juicy tidbits and oh my, I was so shocked when she did What a brilliant development and I can t wait to see where the author takes this sub plot in book four It gave me goosebumps.Sixteen year old S [...]

    10. 4.5 stars. This was the best Kay Hunter book so far A 16 year old girl from a well to do family is murdered at a party thrown by her parents to celebrate her purity pledge creepy yeah There are suspects than you can poke a stick at and everyone seems to have something to hide Kay and her team soon conclude that the girl, Sophie, was not really so pure And there seem to be a number of agendas going on here.Meanwhile Kay is still wondering who it is that set her up for the Professional Standards i [...]

    11. Detective Kay Hunter investigates the murder of a teenage girl and uncovers a complex but extraordinary prenuptial agreement that was doomed from the start The she and her team unravel the events preceding Sophie s murder the number of possible suspects increases At the same time Kay has personal enemies who are determined to harass and undermine her work and her confidence She is unsure who she can still trust amongst her team and afraid for and her boyfriend s safety. One to watch is the thril [...]

    12. When I was given the opportunity to participate in the blog tour of One to Watch, I jumped at the chance I d heard such amazing things about the Kay Hunter series Everything was true This book was amazing I will admit, One to Watch was my first Rachel Amphlett book however, it will NOT be my last Because this was my first book in the Kay Hunter series, I was a little worried that I d be lost The author does a great job of explaining past events so a new reader is not lost, and the old reader isn [...]

    13. It s no secret that I am a massive fan of the Kay Hunter series and Rachel Amphlett I was delighted to be given the opportunity to read and review the 3rd in the series One to Watch This could be read as a standalone but why deny yourself the pleasure of the first two Scared to Death and Will to Live Go get them all and dive in.DS Kay Hunter is one of my favourite protagonists she is the perfect paradigm of a police officer Willing to go to any lengths to grill suspects even if that means she ma [...]

    14. Fast page turner and this time it felt like being in the UK as I remember the UK, which may certainly differ from todays UK One of the side stories shows how BREXIT, even before it is final, is one of the reasons a firm fails and gets bankrupt. The second storyline with lost evidence starting in the first book gets twisted later in the book While some is explained and a few colleagues exonerated it is still not solved.Highly recommended, I paid a reasonable price, which has since risen, as far a [...]

    15. ExcellentDetective Kay Hunter is very good at her job but someone is out to destroy her career Whilst dealing with the death of a teenage girl her personal life becomes complicated One to Watch is the third book in this series and is just as good as the first two Each book deals with individual cases but there is an ongoing story and continuing characters running through the books Kay Hunter is very likeable and has flaws like everyone else which makes her character human and realistic I can t [...]

    16. I voluntarily received an ARC of this book in return for an honest review reviewed earlier this month.A teenage girl with virtually her whole life in front of her is murdered at a private party in the Kentish countryside, leaving Detective Kay Hunter and her colleagues shocked The investigation into the murder uncovers a tangled web of dark secrets pointing to a history of greed and corruption within the tight knit community. As the list of suspects grows Kay must try and figure out who was respo [...]

    17. Brilliant While I ve enjoyed all of Amphlett s books, the Kay Hunter series is my firm favourite and this, number three in the series, is in my opinion the best yet Taking the theme of the Purity Pledge and having the girl who committed to it murdered that same night sets the scene for a fast paced page turner Once I started reading this book, I couldn t put it down as the tale began to unravel Highly recommended.

    18. Wow, another great story in the Kay Hunter series Slightly different as this was 1 murder and not serial killers But this made it intense I could not put this book down , literally and read well into the early hours One of the best who dun it books I have read with multiple plots going on Just when you think you know who it isBrilliant.Whatever is thrown at Kay just steels her resolve There is still a mystery person or persons intent on bringing Kay down but she will do anything to protect her [...]

    19. This truly is a HIT series and the novels just get better and better The plot is full of surprises the characters are well developed, including the protagonist Detective Kay Hooper and the fast pace keeps you glued to the novel Highly recommended novel to all Crime, Suspense Thriller readers you will not be disappointed Well worthy of 5 STARS.

    20. With this being the third in series I feel I have come to know Detective Kay Hunter quite well, and I have the feeling not that I have any special knowledge that this series is nearer the truth about police investigations than most books or dramas I m acquainted with.As always and one of the things I love about this author s writing we are straight into the action from the very beginning Hereditary titles and nouveau riche feature strongly in this novel and for some time I suspected almost every [...]

    21. For reviews check out my blog rubinareads A complex plot with moderate to high pace, characters who are hiding something and cannot be trust, a detective who has her own past become a hindrance, and an ending twist that came out of no where.Definitely a must read Thank you to the author Rachel Amphlett for providing me with the ebook ARC

    22. GREAT SERIESIf you have read the first two books of the Kay Hunter series, then keep reading It only gets better I m starting the 4th book tonight and I hope Rachel keeps writing .

    23. The party was in full swing by ten that night, and Eva, Sophie s best friend, along with most of the other party goers had had a lot to drink It was when Eva was searching for a bush to relieve herself behind that she came across a body her intense shock had her screaming in horror.Detective Kay Hunter and her colleague Detective Devon Sharp were in charge of the investigation the number of inebriated witnesses had them shaking their heads, knowing how difficult facts would be to ascertain But w [...]

    24. I had the villain pegged pretty quickly, or so I thoughtwrong This was an interesting case, a sixteen year old girl gets bludgeoned to death at a purity declaration party barf Her mother is a distant relative of royalty, and that fact figures heavily into the case I enjoyed Kay and her fellow investigators trying not to laugh roll their eyes at some of the snobbery.Kay is still shaken after her house being robbed in the last book, and she is sure it s tied together with her previous disciplinary [...]

    25. A bit confusingWhilst I enjoyed this book, I found it confusing than the first two books in the series Part of the problem was that nobility was involved, which made the names confusing Also, there were many back stories, which made the ending seem contrived.

    26. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.OKofficially Hooked on the series, binge listening while I worked on cleaning up the garden yesterday and today while getting the plants in off the deck.
