    1. Copy provided by the author for reviewAl Riske s Then We d Be Happy sneaks up on you Going in, I knew the writing style would be spare, but it turns out, Then We d Be Happy is a two for one deal It s billed as a novel, but it s also series of vignettes Some are funny, some poignant, some seem to be random passing thoughts. Then We d Be Happy is a little like reading a love letter years later you smile at the memories and a second later you think, god, was it really like that It ll simultaneously [...]

    2. I m an Al Riske aficionado I have read everything he has published He has a distinct voice that is both thought provoking and entertaining I m tempted to say that Then We d Be Happy is Al s best work yet, but I don t want to separate it from his other books They re all good I really liked this book.

    3. In Then We d Be Happy, Riske employs sparse prose, almost poetic pacing and perfectly crafted dialogue to elevate this tale of ordinary life to something extraordinary The characters are people we all know, and the story familiar, yet told in an artful way that draws the reader in from the very first page and carries them along swiftly through to the very end The Silicon Valley setting is a nice touch, unobtrusive and rendered with appropriate restraint I highly recommend Then We d Be Happy.

    4. A relatable story of a group of people with some similarities but all unique in their personalities trying to survive and make the most of life.We see them as individuals who have decisions to make and the outcomes of those decisions.Happiness in the long run is the goal.

    5. In Then We d Be Happy, Al Riske leads us on an episodic journey with scenes that seem to be as effortless in their grace and simplicity as they are eternal in their weight and meaning.

    6. I had fun writing this novel than anything I ve done before The characters came alive for me and now seem like real friends They are energetic, funny, insightful, and face life s challenges with the same confusion and frustration we all feel They have their faults, as you will see, but I can t help loving them all.
