    1. A little girl s experiences when a mermaid girl answers her ad for a sister and comes to live in her house I like when the mermaid girl takes a salt water bath, they play games together, and paint the mermaid s tail as if she has toe nails.

    2. Amazing Sweet story, love the ending It also uses the word patootie so of course kids are going to go crazy for it.

    3. A lovely little story about a girl longing for a sister Instead of a bratty brother, Shelly wishes for a sister She throws a note in a bottle at the beach and viola she meets a mermaid willing to be a sister Having a sister is fun until Shelly learns that sisters can be a pain in the patootie, just like a brother Coral the mermaid decides to return home to her family, leaving Shelly a little wiser and appreciative of her brother.Recommended for preschool grade 2, this one is simple enough for y [...]

    4. Interest Level Pre K 2Lexile Reading Level 420LWhen Shelly gets tired of her brother she decides that she would rather have a sister so when a Mermaid catches a wave to shore her wish is granted Although they are not fast friends shelly loves having a new mermaid sister to join her in doing girly things that brothers just don t understand This fiction book is an easy read with fun illustrations and would be a good book to use in learning center activities.

    5. This picture book is a modern fantasy The pictures were simple and not very memorable, but the story line was clever and younger children would appreciate this story The story was funny because how simple it would be to simply apply for a sister and have her turn out to be a mermaid This would be good for younger children during storytime, but because the pictures were childish, older children probably wouldn t enjoy this book.

    6. A little girl think her brother is very annoying One day at the beach, she meets a mermaid her age and invites her to come home with her and be her sister The mermaid comes and they have lots of fun together They go through all the fun things sisters do together, and even they have a few fights But the mermaid misses her home and so they go back to the beach Very colorful illustrations Preschool appropriate.

    7. Originally rated G by Margarita BouzosChildren s imagination can run wild with this story It uses realistic and vibrant colors to tell the story of Shelly and her mermaid sister Coral Most of your students will enjoy this story because of the little twist at the end, especially the girls.

    8. Wow, she d rather have a female fish for a sibling instead of a brother because boys don t know you put lipstick on your lips and not your torso, evidently It seems somewhat well intentioned, but it ends up being sexist drivel.

    9. Any little girl who loves mermaids or longs for a sister or perhaps in the case of those with sisters for a NICE sister will love this book The twist at the end makes for an extra happy ending.

    10. Age PreschoolSeason SummerA great concept but I felt like the storyline was too jolty Little girls will still love the book.

    11. Cute look at what it would be like to have a mermaid come with you as a sister, both the good and bad A little sibling conflict, too.

    12. Sweet, ordinary kid pictures with a distinctive charm Fun way of dealing with the joys and annoyances of siblings.
