    1. I m returning for I really enjoyed this It wasn t exactly super unique, but it was fun all the same If you re looking for a light read with all your typical fantastical elements such as magic, princes, swords fighting, etc check this one out Dara, the MC, is a refreshingly strong and likable heroine She has a good head on her shoulders and spends her days practicing dueling Her dream is to compete professionally, and for that she ll need a sponsorship But things get a little topsy turvy when he [...]

    2. Don t start reading this late at night thinking you can just read a few chapters and put it down I stayed up way too late, devouring the story of Dara, a young woman trying to establish herself as a professional duelist Set in the mountaintop kingdom of Vertigon, the world of the duelists is fascinating, and will have you itching to take up fencing. But Dara s life is not just about swordfighting This is a refreshingly different coming of age tale, as Dara struggles to avoid the life her parents [...]

    3. This book felt really simplistic and straightforward and predictable and yet I still kinda liked it I DID like it it wasn t awesome or anything, but totally good enough to keep going.

    4. Decent Kindle Unlimited book It was a little frustrating how she never put the pieces together about what was happening around her but it was still an interesting story with likeable characters and interesting plot.

    5. this was a nice surprise a little slow and a bit boring at the beginning but it definitely gets better by the end Dara is a strong female with clear principles and Siv it s just a bundle of flirtatious joy the end was pretty sad, though poor Siv there isn t much on the enemies motives or reasons I mean a few things get mentioned but it isn t overly developed in my opinion anyway but hopefully we see of that.

    6. This book was a quick fun read Sword fighting, magic, and a funny prince I knew I d like it before reading and I totally did.Set in a fantasy world, Duel of Fire is filled with new concepts and strong characters Dara Ruminor is an eighteen year old duelist who is serious about her work And Prince Sivarrion Siv is well less serious about his But due to fate and the storyline the two must work together to defeat a secret threat before it defeats them.Too bad they don t really get along at first.Da [...]

    7. Ooooh I m intrigued, I ll probably be reading on soon I m giving this one 3 1 2 stars because I didn t like the first half that much I thought the writing was very telling and not enough showing, and there was a lot of info dumping on how systems work and descriptions of the castle structure I didn t find these things important Also, I understand that this was about dueling, and I loved Dara s fierceness, I just didn t love how 90% of this book is dueling and somehow the plot seemed to drag on a [...]

    8. Wow I was very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book The description sounded intriguing if not terribly novel, but I ended up just getting sucked in by the characters in this book I even stayed up until 2am one night to finish so be warned before you get started.Dara, our heroine, is the daughter of Fireworkers, skilled magical artisans of fire However, unlike her magic wielding parents, Dara has no spark of magic and is instead captivated by the world of dueling She is determined [...]

    9. 3.5I am pleasantly surprised A strong kick ass heroine Check A charming prince Check Disapproving parents Check An air of impending doom No Just kidding, YES Dara is a young duelist in pursuit of a patron that could provide for her future training but for that she needs to win the big tournament She is skilled, smart and fast on her feet but in the middle of her training her coach asks her or rather demands that she start training with Prince Siv He is undisciplined and lazy, the total opposite [...]

    10. This book was very different from the books i normally read I was reallyentertained the whole time and really enjoyed this book I was entertained throughout it and would definetly recommend

    11. 3.5 starsDara is a duelist think fencing Her whole life she has trained to be the very best that no one ever was to make up for not having the ability to wield fire like her prestigious father and late sister As one of her the best, her coach orders her to train with the lazy and extremely cocky crown prince While they have their differences, they learn to work together in the face of conspiracy, death and turmoil all very close to home I was really excited about starting this book and it was pr [...]

    12. Duel of Fire swept me away The world was so dynamic and alive that I really could imagine the place Dara worked and lived and dueled Dara was such an easy to root for character She has this inner struggle of wishing she were like her father and sister and coming to terms with the fact she isn t although TWISTS I feel all gushy right now with this review, but Dara was actually one of my favorite book heroines in a long time She was torn between the girl she wanted to be and the girl she needed to [...]

    13. I have a hard time trying to finish Duel of Fire.I m not sure what it is that make this book so boring Other than some of Siv and Dara dual practice everything is just so bland be it the tone or the narrationI lost interest in the middle of the book.Part IIMy daughter insisted so I gritted my teeth and have a go with Duel of Fire.Surprisingly the last 20% of the book was pretty fun and not so boring like the first half that I had read IMOP the story is fun but the writing is I don t know, it s n [...]

    14. Having read Jordan Rivet s previous book series, I was very excited to start a new one This one is completely different, but still is as exciting as the previous one I loved the main characters Dara and the Prince The plot was pacy and kept me reading page after page I was shocked by the ending and can t wait for the next one

    15. SuspenseWhat wonderfully built characters, intrigue and challenge of duty vs the heart I am totally going to get the next book and start reading

    16. A decent, if unremarkable, young adult fantasy It felt like a fun palate cleanser than something that grips you and makes you want to fly through the rest of the series The most original aspect was the protagonist, a gifted duelist named Dara Ruminor I love her gravitas and seriousness She was confident without arrogance which is really refreshing in a modern YA heroine, who are often either all powerful world destroyers or utterly devoid of self esteem. The dueling scenes were thrilling and you [...]

    17. I ve always loved fencing, so when I came across this story of Dara, a young woman trying to establish herself as a professional duelist, I had to read it It s set in the mountaintop kingdom of Vertigon, the world of the duelists is fascinating, and will have you, like me, itching to take up fencing. But Dara s life is not just about sword fighting This is a refreshingly different coming of age tale, as Dara struggles to avoid the life her parents have mapped out for her As she grows closer to th [...]

    18. Fully engaging and fun to read Dara, not living up to her family s tradition of being able to wield fire or to have the spark decides to become a duelist instead She is really good and her coach decides to have her train with the prince who isn t taking his work seriously enough There are hints through out the story that the 100 years of peace will soon be over, but nothing happens until close to the end Dara is caught up in her quest for the Vertigon Cup and doesn t pay attention to her parents [...]

    19. A good first book, and definitely one that makes me want to continue the series Rivet throws the reader firmly into the middle of this new world, which can at times be jarring as there are mentions of animals and such that we have no reference to, but hopefully that can be built on to satisfaction The pacing has a few hiccups here and there, but mainly keeps a nice flow that escalates very nicely at the end to an exciting climax

    20. Steel and FireThis had likable characters and an interesting plot There were times when I didn t understand the lack of communication between Dara and her parents It seemed that living together they d have talked a little bit at least Especially when something happens that involves one of them that is big enough the whole town gossips about it.

    21. My thoughts on this book Honestly, I am very veryverypleasantly surprised at how this book turned out I picked it up because it sounded interesting enough, but I haven t been blown away by any YA books recently and therefore haven t felt compelled to write any reviews for them. But then this book came along like First and foremost, Siv Dear God This prince absolutely stole my heart In the beginning, he is painted as very rambunctious and charming He just wants to have fun until he becomes King I [...]

    22. I ve found a new author This book was amazing Strong, female lead, believable story and a deepening plot this series is such delightful discovery So of course I m off to start on the next one right this minute

    23. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am definitely on to book two I just hope that the necessary revelations will not be too drawn out Hoping for lots significant interactions between Siv and Dara, leading to the answers they need for Siv to succeed as king.

    24. Really enjoyed this despite it being predictable I see great things for the next book and hopefully every one after.

    25. The book was a bit slow but I guess the scene had to be set Hopefully it will be far paced in the next book.

    26. Love this book it is clean great action and character development strong female character.swords woman recommend the entire series though only read the first three books so far

    27. My God This was beautiful Swords, bridges, lanterns.ndship, betrayal love ugh So much is going on my head is spinning I need to know
