We only get this one walkis one opportunity to shine and make our mark This book is extremely powerful, well written, and sheds light on the AIDS epidemic The world when it first became a known issue, the people dealing with it, and the people there for those dealing with it I was effected by this book in so many ways, but mainly, I appreciate the knowledge it brings The way you truly feel for every single person introduced in this book It s not just heartbreak, although there s a lot of that, i [...]

    2. COPPER LILIES by Bradon Nave is definitely a reminder of what it was like when the HIV AIDS crisis was first brought to the attention of the world Bradon Nave has written it as though he were there in San Francisco and witnessed it all first hand Mr Nave has written strong characters who are each very memorable for their strength and passion. One of impressionable moment for me was the revealing of the reasoning for the book s name My garden, he said solemnly It s beautiful I moved closer to him [...]

    4. This bookThis book is so much than I thought it would be I thought it would be about a young woman who finds love despite all sadness and tragedy surrounding her during the AIDS epidemic, but it is so much than that Nora leaves behind her only family after having her fill of their close minded beliefs and their lack of compassion for those suffering She heads to San Fransisco in hopes of helping those in need, with little than the clothes on her back and her car What she finds is so much tha [...]

    7. Be sure you have plenty of kleenexes handy because this story could make a grown man cry It is a story about the worst part of the AIDS epidemic There is a romance between Nora and Donald, but that is of a side story It tells how Nora moves from Oklahoma to San Francisco to help during the early days of the HIV crisis She is a nurse and she just wants to help Thankfully, she was directed to a hospital floor job instead of working on an AIDS floor She also is directed to volunteer at Buddies She [...]

    13. When I saw that Bradon Nave had a book out as part of the tour, I knew I had to read it as I had previously read two of his earlier books and I loved them as they were both powerful and emotional reads What I didn t expect though was that after not long finishing a book where the main character s brother passed away from AIDS the book set in 1984 , that I would in a span of less than a month pick up another one with that particular topic Copper Lilies is set in 1986 in San Francisco , in a time [...]

    14. I m already a huge fan of Nave s books, but this one is in a league of its own It s emotional and gut wrenching, but also funny and uplifting is so many things all wrapped in one, so get ready to ride the emotional rollercoaster that is Copper Lilies This is Nave s best yet introducing an incredible character in Nora With goals to escape her narrow minded family and make a real difference as a nurse in San Francisco, she leaves her old life behind At the height of the AIDS epidemic, all she want [...]

    16. Great read about a real life epidemic I ve never stopped to consider what those first AIDs patients must have gone through This book is so moving The characters are instantly likable with each character having his her own personality and quirk Roxy kept me laughing the whole time I thought Nora would ve been a little culture shocked from the sudden move and the dive into the epidemic and tragedy surrounding her Overall, I really enjoyed this book I appreciated the look inside the life of those [...]
