    7. I read Fit to Be Dead, the first book in this series, not too long ago and enjoyed the character of Aggie Mundeen Somehow I totally missed the 2nd book, Dang Near Dead I m pleading temporary insanity on that one So when the opportunity came up to read and review Smart, But Dead, I was one happy reader.First off, the titles of the books in this series are very punny, and rate very high on my cozy mystery title favorites scale When I see the title Fit to be Dead, I start hearing the song Hip to be [...]

    8. Science was never a strong subject for me I struggled with it a lot but I was always curious about it Chemistry was an elusive topic, but I could follow some of biology lessons easier Though I was never a fan of the lessons that required dissection shudder I could relate to main character Aggie s drive to know, learn, and understand, and that made her endearing to me In Smart, But Dead, the third book in Nancy G West s humorous mystery series, Aggie is heading back to college to learn about the [...]

    9. Smart, But Dead is only an OK read As a mystery of the chick lit variety, it contains the requisite amateur female sleuth nicknamed Aggie, the handsome detective, and built in attraction and conflict between the two Also on board is a friendly and helpful sidekick for the leading lady Unfortunately the plot depends on an understanding of DNA and related research possibilities The author tries to weave in descriptions naturally, but there is just too much explanation needed to make the plot work [...]

    10. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review.Aggie Mundeen is extremely focused or even bordering on obsessed with aging and how to reduce its impact She embarks on a course at a college where she meets the professor Carmody who is acting very strangely both in and out of class After he suffers a fit within class, Aggie finds it her mission to look into what is going on within the lab and the professors that works there This leads her in [...]

    11. This is my first encounter with this series, and I absolutely fell in love with Aggie She s pushing forty, and writes a column about staying young She s taking a class with a professor who claims to have found a way to help people live longer His theory doesn t work out very well for him, however, as he drops dead after one of his classes Naturally, Aggie jumps into the investigation, hoping to find out who or what killed the professor. This is a very fast paced mystery, and Aggie s curiosity get [...]

    15. While this was the third book in the series, it was the first that I have read Usually, I just can t start in the middle I m weird that way However, this book was a blast to read It was extremely funny with great characters and a good plot Aggie was attending classes which dealt with scientific ways to slow aging, and while the concept is way above my head, it was explained well enough that I mostly understood it.I m looking forward to being able to read the first two books in the series, and an [...]

    16. Smart, but deadThank you to the author, publisher and netgalley for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review I enjoyed this cosy mystery and gave it 4 Aggie is a little obsessed with aging, and trying to avoid it After enrolling on a college science course, she finds herself playing sleuth, rather than student I found this to be an enjoyable read and think that readers who like a cosy mystery, will enjoy giving this a go It has a lot of science terminology and that can lose you a li [...]

    17. This book s description of a female lead approaching 40, DNA and genetics research, and a murder mystery really caught my attention I haven t read the other books in this series but it was easy getting to know Aggie and her friends I was kept guessing till the end and I enjoyed learning along with Aggie a few new things about geneticsgalley ARC

    18. Smart Aggie Mundeen is smart But But she s also a little clumsy, irrepressible, and irresistible Dead She might well end up dead if she continues nosing around the university where her questions are not wanted Smart, But Dead is the perfect combination of brains and heart A tight mystery, an irrepressible heroine, and superb writing.

    19. This is a great little cozy series that has a middle aged heroine helping solve crimes to keep the attention of the local police detective When her professor and his assistant are both murdered she feels she can solve the crimes because she s right on campus I like Aggie and her friends and her curiosity and intelligence A good read.

    24. I received this book free from the publisher through NetGalley I thank them for their generousity In exchange, I was simply asked to write an honest review, and post it The opinions I have expressed are my own I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission s 16 CFR, Part 255 Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising You re as old as you believe you are You re as young as your curiosity, your dreams, and your determination.Aggie Mundeen has a [...]

    25. Aggie Mundeen lives in San Antonio, Texas, and writes a newspaper column, Stay Young with Aggie She s terrified of getting older, and is constantly looking for ways to maintain her youth In this vein, she is taking a college class about the Human Genome project and DNA But after asking questions one day in class, her professor, Kermit Carmody, drops dead She becomes suspicious that he might have been murdered, and decides to solve the case on her own, because she thinks it will make Detective Sa [...]

    26. Generally, I adore the mysteries published by Henery Press, but this one was a bit not for me The amount of science really turned me off, but if science is your thing, and you like lighter mysteries, be sure to check this out I did not find Aggie to be a very likable or sympathetic main sleuth, which, for me, is a big part of whether or not I can totally immerse into the story Not that she is evil or that I dislike her, only that she never really came alive for me Also, when Aggie described othe [...]

    27. Smart But Dead is the third book in the Aggie Mundeen series by Nancy West After reading the book I felt as if I had missed something Perhaps if I had read the first two books in the series, I would have been better prepared for this book.Aggie is a 40ish newspaper columnist who writes a Stay Young With Aggie column for the paper Aggie is definitely having a mid life crisis, she even feels that is she entered college again, she might find the secret to staying young. But instead of finding the fo [...]

    28. Why are these books set in 1997 instead of being updated to when they were actually printed Aggie s need to stay young seems odd to me A lot of the beginning is spent in Aggie s Science of Aging class which I found boring Aggie tenses up when Sam is near her, wonders if she s sexually stunted, mentions trauma with Lester her ex and this was not the case in Dang Near Dead Aggie is just over the top with her emotional immaturity in this book. Now that I ve read the three books in this series I agre [...]

    29. Smart But Dead is the third book in the Aggie Mundeen mystery series It is a decently written and professionally edited, full length novel. The actual mystery is very good, but drowned out by too many scientific facts, an over abundance of characters and a frenetic heroine Her relationship with her love interest was odd and not convincing. So three stars based on the creative mystery alone Ends with a cliffy HFNC provided by the publisher via Netgalley.

    30. Once you get pass the big words scientific words , you will get caught up in the process of what Aggie wants learn trying to stay young In the process of trying to learn how to achieve her goal of not aging, her professor dies and Aggie get so involved trying to solve the crime you will can only guess at what is she going to do next.
