I quit enjoyed reading Then Arthur Fought even though I knew very little of this slice of quasi history beforehand In some ways it s not a very forgiving book for an Arthurian noob, with a lot of people and place names to remember Even so, I found a lot which was fascinating by plowing through and not worrying overly much about absorbing the details Having said that, Howard did an extremely impressive job of cross liking maps, people and original sources from the text Too bad I read this on a Ko [...]

Excellent book, and the first one to arrive a possible probable narrative of the historical King Arthur based on the sources we have and what can be inferred from archeology The book includes fully sourced and believable hypotheses and detailed maps Mr Wiseman is the first person to comment on a few things such as the descendants of King Vorangonus Gwrgon , who was deplaced by Vortigern and Hengest, as well as the links to Hygelac King of the Geats according to Beowulf who invaded Gaul Reference [...]
