    1. E ARC from NetgalleyAfter the events of The Magician s Fire, Harry, Arthur, and Billie find themselves drugged, locked in a trunk and on their way to New Orleans in 1886, supposedly sent with the help of the Order of the White Crow and a man in a pale suit Harry manages to escape, of course, and luckily Billie knows a group of people in New Orleans However, her friends the Islanders are being attacked because they are blamed for the demon curse that has befallen Mayor Monticelso The Islanders, w [...]

    2. Harry and friends are back and I was rather excited about this book I read the first one and enjoyed the characters a lot but had thought the story was a touch slow so I was hoping this one would have build on each character and the action would move along at a better pace The book starts off where the last left off, I like that the action adventure started right at the beginning and I thought the characters build was a bit at least with Billie I still however thought the pace was a touch slow [...]

    3. Not very Houdini esque, But Still FunIn the first book in this series, The Magician s Fire , we met young Harry Houdini and the two kids who would join him on his action adventures We got street wise Billie and patrician, but surprisingly tough, Arthur We saw young Harry as an escape artist, an illusionist, a bit of a grifter, and a showman Origin tales are always fun, and one of the great appeals of the first book in this series was meeting everyone and watching the team of friends come togethe [...]

    4. Young Houdini the Demon Curse is the second book in the Young Houdini series by Simon Nicholson The story opens with Harry, Artie, and Billie waking up after being drugged and placed in trucks They are on a train to New Orleans, with a note saying there are being sent to help a mysterious organization fight evil When they arrive they discover the mayor is struck down with a mysterious illness and Billie s friends are being blamed for cursing him Can they uncover the threat to the mayor and those [...]

    5. Heavy on action and adventure and less of the illusionist tricks that I was expecting, the second book in the Young Houdini series takes Harry and his two friends off to 1880 s New Orleans in an unusual manner Drugged and placed in trunks, they wake to find a note telling them they are needed to fight an evil Harry, Artie and Billie are all very compelling characters with strong personalities with the friendship between the three being well defined and convincing I was never confused as Nicholso [...]

    6. A copy of Young Houdini the Demon Curse was provided to me in exchange for my honest review. Here is another adventure of the boy Harry Houdini This time he s shipped off to New Orleans where Billie s friends, the islanders, are in a very dire situation Can Harry and friends solve the mysterious ailments of the mayor before the islanders pay the price I have to say it A children s series about a boy named Harry with two sidekicks, one male, one female, featuring magic, and a new perilous adventur [...]

    7. Suspense rules this latest adventure of the young Houdini that greatest of all magicians who seemed to create miracles ofmagic and here we see the beginnings of that genius thisyoung Houdini along with his friends find themselves in anotheralmost disastrous situation as the tale opens and their adventureskeep getting darker as the story unfolds. They find themselves in New Orleans at a time when the Islanders, a group that live on Fishermen s Point seemed threatened by a mob stirred up by several [...]

    8. I, like many young readers I know, are fascinated by the famous magician Houdini Therefore I absolutely love what the author has done here imagined and created the life of a young Houdini who after being separated from his family, makes two friends before getting pulled into a secretive crime solving organization While I have not yet read the first book in the series, after reading The Demon Curse, I have no doubt that the series will be a big hit with young readers great mysteries to solve to p [...]

    9. I read this one as an advanced reader s copy It s the second in a series and I didn t read the first one, but the author did a good job of explaining the characters so I didn t feel too lost There are some references to things that happened in the first book, but I could sort of figure them out If you can get past the implausibility of the premise of this book young Harry Houdini and two friends solve crimes and are basically drugged, kidnapped and taken to New Orleans , it s a pretty good story [...]

    10. Honestly, I didn t think this book was as good as the first one was Still a good book, with characters I liked, and a fast paced plot I could see who was going to be the bad guy pretty early in the book, but I did not anticipate the second plot twist view spoiler I totally didn t think that whats her name the french lady would be the evil mastermind hide spoiler Harry is an amazing character, and I will definitely be continuing on with this series If only to read about him.

    11. It was a super nice hardback 6 stars for design I loved the water ripple design on the hardback under the dustjacket, it is very pretty to look at I got this as a giveaway book for my honest review.Overall this book is a solid 4.5 stars being fun and well written I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and now want to read any other books in this line from this author.

    12. Fast paced and exciting adventure for 9 , but lacking character development and feels like the protagonist should be Sherlock not Houdini.
