    2. I found this to be a good start to a new series that takes place in the future that includes aliens A big cast is introduced and established well in this story However, there is a focus on the main character, Luca, who holds special abilities and qualities that presents him as good hero for this series.Alliances and friendships are made and strengthened amidst action scenes I was tickled to encounter a kind of black smokes monster that shows up in the story that reminded me of the black smoke mo [...]

    3. A fast paced, well written book, with plenty of unexpected twists and turns. An amazing read from a multi talented author.I can t wait to read the next installment in the series.I received the book for free through First Reads.

    4. thanks to for the preview copythis is a fast paced, well written and interesting book with a futuristic story for older children young adultsgood debut, never boring, recommended

    5. I received this book as a Giveaway.I wasn t sure what to expect from this book but was pleasantly surprised It is extremely futuristic and it took me a little while to get used to all the unusual words and ideas in the future world Once I did I became engrossed in the whole story It was a fast paced and I enjoyed the multiple view points throughout allowing us to see all that was happening I also liked how the characters all linked together, Asia Mae becoming friends with Sumer who was also Elli [...]

    6. First off, I m not generally a big reader of young adult fiction although I love Gemma Malley s stuff but something about this drew me in straight away The pace is fast and the story just keeps giving Without wanting to give too much away, there s always a surprise around the corner, and I hugely enjoyed delving into the world of Acacia Burj and the crazy landscape of the Jungle and the Wilds.Luca, Asia Mae and Ceiba as well as the rest of the cast are convincingly real and are very well thought [...]

    7. This book was not for me the target audience is most likely younger teenage boys. The writing style was very simplistic and the plot was convoluted and not as well thought out as I would have liked I felt the author did not spend enough time explaining certain concepts. The characters felt very hollow and I would have preferred if the author had spent time fleshing out the character development so some of the later plot points were believable.I will not be continuing on with this series.I receiv [...]

    8. A rip roaring ride for mid teens into sci fi.A relentless chase, written in cliff hanger style, exploring the characters abilities and emotional uncertainties in a world that appears to be coming apart. Some very big issues are touched on in the closing chapters that may confuse and overwhelm readers, and it felt a little hurried despite the fast pacing , in order to finish it.However, the author leaves a tantalising hook for further books in this series.
