    1. I m not normally a reader of horror or ghost stories, but I was intrigued by snippets I read and discussions I found on Facebook and Twitter I decided to give it a chance.Synopsis from the author Erik went into the woods of northern Maine for a vacation He planned to enjoy three weeks of quiet serenity But in the cabin nothing was what he expected and his life would never be the same As winter settles over the region Erik begins to question whether he will get away from the woods alive The woods [...]

    2. Just finished Waiting for Harvey by Lydia North pseudonym for Kim Scott It is SO good Thanks Lydia Kim You did it again sweet Success I could see how Kim varied her style from the Alex Manning series and the Ruth Chernock series But it was so effective I was reading along thinking about how simply Waiting for Harvey was written When I realized how completely I had been drawn into the story and how effectively deceptive the simplicity was.I appreciated the way she cleverly used old ghost story co [...]

    4. Waiting for Harvey is the first book in the The Spirits of Maine series by Lydia North This was an eventful story full of suspense and adventure I was taken in right away and enjoyed the journey that waited before me Waiting for Harvey is an intriguing paranormal story that I found believable Every word of it You don t have to believe in spirits or ghosts to get into the storyline It is a great escape into the unknown This is an intriguing story that should make it to the best sellers list Skill [...]

    5. Alone, in a cabin in the woods, with a ghost Who could ask for in a ghost story Harvey starts right out with a hint of foreboding in a conversation between brothers John and Erik Already my curiosity is roused as to what happened to them when they were kids that brother John doesn t want to talk about When we finally hear the tale it s from the perspective of young boys, the dialogue between them spot on Erick ends up staying at his brothers cabin in the woods alone It was a battle between one m [...]

    6. I finished reading Waiting for Harvey a little bit ago and I was barely able to put it down the whole time reading it It was soooooo good The book had me captured from the very beginning all the way till the end The writing is fantastic and is a real page turner I love the way the characters were portrayedI felt for each and every one of them I loved reading about Harvey s history and what happened to him There were a lot of times that I was thinking, oh my gosh what is going to happen now This [...]

    7. What a brilliant story It held me from beginning to end It s beautifully written, and so descriptive I love the wonderful way the writer describes the beauty of the forest, the freezing cold of winter, and the pervading atmosphere of evil I felt as though I was in the cabin along with Eric, fighting to survive and keep my sanity I found myself willing him to escapefelt his anger, fear and frustration.I shall think twice about going into a dark woods after reading this Being of a somewhat nervous [...]

    8. I m actually only half way through this book, but I m telling you all, you need to read it Excellent story with a wonderful psychological creep factor I fell in love with stories that had this same effect on me by author Stephen King, so when I began reading the first few pages, I was hooked What a great time of year to be picking this one up, too And how happy am I know there s another book after this one in the series So I m recommending curling up under the covers with Waiting for Harvey Just [...]

    9. This book held me throughout the entire story I could not put it down Had to see what would happen to Erik, a main character At first I was a bit put off by Erik because he seemed like such a wimp That changes eventually though I won t discuss the basics of the story because I don t want to spoil it for anyone who has not read it, but I will say that those who start reading this won t be able to put it down until you know what happens Very well written

    10. The story started out with 3 boys and a OUIJAboard a spirit and then later years WOW Book keptyou reading to see what would happen Would recommend.

    11. WOW What an intense story So well written it seemed like I was there with my heart pounding along with poor Erik Harvey is one scary dude This is most definitely worth reading

    12. A writer is taken by his brother to a secluded cabin to work through his writer s block. What I liked about this book It was well produced and error free While it started a little slow, I liked the building suspense as it became increasingly obvious there was an unusual presence in the cabin, John the brother wasn t going to return to the cabin and Eric the writer was not going to be allowed to leave I liked it being unclear whether Eric was hallucinating and loosing his mind in the isolated cabi [...]

    13. An entertaing ghost story written as two stories in one The book starts with Erik, a writer struggling to find his writing mojo, who flees his home to steer clear of an impending storm He finds himself at a cabin he used to frequent as a child There, Erik discovers, or aptly reaquants himself with, Harvey a ghost Erik accidentally conjured as a child. In the second half of the book, you read Harvey s story Harvey lived quite the checkered past and it was fun reading about his wayward ways.Erik s [...]

    14. While a hurricane force storm threatens the east coast of America, Erik decides he needs a break from City life to finish his much awaited third novel He contacts his older brother John and asks if he will drive him to the cabin in the woods in Maine. The joy of this book is you really don t know what is going to happen next It s so beautifully crafted that, even when I had an idea that such would happen, I still had no idea of the final outcome North is a true story weaver, spinning the tale of [...]

    15. Good readGood readI enjoyed this spooky book very much and will recommend it to others I like how it draws you in and makes you feel like you re in the woods in Maine.

    16. This is a gripping story It kept me turning pages I had no idea how it would end, which made every new revelation exciting The reader never really knows what Harvey is capable of, which makes every encounter with Erik exciting.

    17. Decent storyPretty good ghost story It is well written and was interesting However I felt some parts lagging in excitement It could just be me but I wanted a tad .

    18. WOW Very intense and sit on the edge of your seat story So well written I felt the fear that Erik was experiencing and Harvey is one scary spirit An excellent read

    19. A quick readbut good Caught my attention right off and I couldn t stop reading Kind of creepy with a sad ending

    20. I m not sure how this has so many stellar reviews the story was slow and predictable and neither horror scary nor psychological thriller scary The premise is good, I wish it had panned out.
