I enjoyed reading these poems a lot There are 63 different poems in the book and they all tell a different short story using different animals or places such as the Grand Canyon My favorite poem was Furry Furry Squirrel I loved the descriptive words that describe what squirrels do and how they move I would probably read a few a day to my younger students I feel as though they would really enjoy them

Prelutsky s poems are very melodic They would be fun for children to learn and recite Most of the poems in the book were pretty short, some as short as four lines They were fun and a good introduction to poetry He mixed some geography into the poetry, but other then that the poems were about different things I would recommend this for children around 4 6 It s good for phonological awareness, and print awareness.

This is my NON PRINT option I really didn t like these poems The combination of the banjo music and Prelutsky s droning voice made me wonder how kids could like these poems I wonder if the illustrations helpI kept thinking of my niece and whether she would be entertained by these poems But then I couldn t bear the thought of having to listen to these poems again to see if she d like them.

This book has many short poems in it 28 to be exact Each poem is has unique and interesting text and illustrations The illustrations are so detailed and really bring life to each poem In this book, you travel across the country in places such as the Grand Canyon and Seattle Each poem also brings a different emotion to them too You could use this book to introduce basic poetry to students in grade Kindergarten through Second Grade.

I did not really care for this book of poems There were a few that were alright, but by the end I caught myself trying to even evaluate the poems to see if they would be good example for students to use as a guide but I didnt feel like I could even use it for that I felt that the poems were short and they had some good ideas and example of rhyming I just did not really care for them.

    18. I listened to this on CD This was read by the author, Jack Pretlusky I thought I would have enjoyed this than I did There was just a lot going on I was so distracted I wonder what my kids would think I am curious if they would enjoy it or share my sentiments hmmm

    22. I was disappointed in this book I was hoping for a hilarious story about frogs wearing suspenders, but it wasn t that at all I guess I need to look at titles closer because it does state that it s a collection of poetry.

    23. I was always of a Shel Silverstein fan as a kid, and it s taken me a while to get to liking Prelutsky s work I did enjoy this one than I expected I think it was due to its shorter format and watercolor illustrations.
