    1. A good book told by Lonesome, the wonderful dog who followed Chris on her wilderness travels I enjoyed how it was written, and felt deeply for Lonesome.

    2. Entertaining tales of a dog s life told by the dog, Lonesome She would have liked to live in a city, with a roof over her head, dry and warm, and parks to walk in, but such was not her lot Her mistress lived in a solitary wilderness two days hike from any neighbors Lonesome tells of her unhappiness at times, faithfulness nonetheless, and her reflections on her mistress s behavior Fun read for the most part, but have to wonder if author Lonesome s mistress did understand some of the difficulties [...]

    3. I m giving up on this one I ve tried I think it has something to do with the book being written in the dog s voice, although, normally that shouldn t bother me I can t articulate why it bothers me but I m finally giving this book up Not enough depth Basically it boils down to it not being interesting enough to hold my attention And normally I love adventure wilderness books.

    4. Normally I don t take to non fiction but I loved this account because it is essentially a non fiction story told from the perspective of a pooch Chris lives about 150 km west as the crow flies from where I grew up and I loved hearing tales of life in the wilderness from a wilderness dog who d rather not be.

    5. Despite the inherent cruelty this story reminds us all that dogs have a magical world to share with us.
