    1. I received an Advanced Reader Copy thru first reader program I am not a science whiz in any way, shape, or form I have watched Big Bang Theory and heard Schrodinger s cat mentioned as well as Oppenheimer and other scientists It all kind of went over my head This book takes a scientist, theory, idea and breaks it down so you can understand itwhether you are 8 or 80 I truly enjoyed the book and I plan on reading it again soon If you have a child that enjoys science I would definitely suggest you p [...]

    3. ExceptionalThis is a condensed encyclopedia of great scientists, their achievements, and how it effected history It is easy to comprehend and the authors do a great job of simplifying complex material.

    4. A ton of great information, but not as interesting as the others It wasn t the book though, I m just not all that into science y stuff.

    5. Good book for someone looking to get a very general understanding of a broad range of scientific concepts I wish the format was based on the branch of science rather than a historical timeline Plus there is the possibility of going a little in depth rather than leaving readers with the most basic understanding.

    6. Didn t find this too interesting useful.I was hoping to use this to teach science to my 5 year old, but as this was a bit over my head at least without devoting significant time to each topic I don t think that will work.

    7. Great Science BookReally good book It would help a lot of people who are interested in science, it is very resourceful and good to review,.

    8. The Science Book, by Rob Colson This book is non fiction Rob Colson has wrote edited 6 other similar type books, for example the Philosophy book, the Phycology book, the politics book, etc The cover of the book is also really cool so I had to choose it because of that as well. This book is about exactly what the title says Science This book writes in all the developments science has had from the day humans stepped onto the planet to present It has different events that happened, a lot of facts an [...]

    9. I won this on a giveaway I have no science background but was interested in the topics on how we are made of stardust as well as a few others connected to famous scientists I had heard of, for example, Mary Anning, an English fossil collector Marie Curie, Einsteinl the usual suspects are here with mini bios That said, this is a bit ish, and although the graphs help, the black and white presentation layout design did delay my reading of the sections eyes tend to glaze over helplessly when faced w [...]

    10. Whenever I pick up a Dorling Kindersley DK book in our local bookstore, I expect to find inside rich, color illustrations interspersed with manageable chunks of information The Science Book, part of DK s Big Ideas Simply Explained series, doesn t disappoint This volume, which I received as a First Reads giveaway, presents a concise history of science chronologically, from Airstotle to Z bosons Because the book is ordered as a timeline, the topics skip around, from plate tectonics to chromosomes [...]

    11. I won an Advanced Readers Copy of The Science Book. The Science Book is a collection of articles about people and subject matter related to all things in the discipline of science These fascinating nuggets of information are quick to read and surprisingly easy to understand The publishers have included photographs and graphics to facilitate comprehension, as well as cause and effect bubbles to aid the reader in following the logic of the scientific discovery. This intriguing book is perfect for ke [...]

    12. The Science Book is the first book that I ve read in Big Ideas Simply Explained series With photographs, informative graphics and mini biography of influential scientists, this book takes various important scientific concepts including astronomy, physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, meteorology, and technology, and breaks them down into small ideas with step by step explanations in the order of the dates of their discoveries and inventions for readers to digest them easily although I would [...]

    13. What a fun book The numerous entries are clear and concise not enough for your kid to write a paper on any given topic, but perfect as a starting point to pique their interest and show them where to begin their research What I liked best is that we are shown the origins of different scientific thought, and I was surprised at the ingenuity of people long before modern technological society What really sold me, however, was the entry on global warming as it explained the first scientific observati [...]

    14. This is a lovely resource book, outlining major scientific discoveries It is organized chronologically, starting in 600BCE until the present time There is a recurring timeline theme that I found to be visually appealing Each discovery has information about the person who made the discovery, background information to contextualize it, and an article explaining the discovery and it s significance Each discovery receives 2 4 pages of attention I quite like it and will use it as a resource book, not [...]

    15. The history of science in 2 4 page descriptions The pieces are well explained they included not only what the discovery was, but other possibilities that were explored, how it was arrived at the experiment , and precursors Each piece includes a column listing building blocks and subsequent discoveries In total, one of the big things I came away with was that science is a collective cumulative enterprise, where discoveries tend to be incremental and build upon previous knowledge acquired and test [...]

    16. If you are really into science, then this book is for you An alternate title might be, The History of Every Single Scientific Theory and Discovery In One Really Heavy Book The content is interesting and the design is sleek, modern, and inviting with big, bold, colorful words on black backgrounds But this book has a lot of content and I mean a lot In the classroom, I would use excerpts from this book as articles for my kiddos to read here and there This book is great, but it s definitely of a re [...]

    17. I really enjoy the way the information is presented in short 2 4 page descriptions I m sort of getting the history of science as well as learning important concepts I m not a scientist so this is accessible and easy to understand I am reading the ARC and do like that it is paperback The hardcover version is too cumbersome I saw another book in the series in a local bookshop.

    18. Like the door to a million houses A beautiful book, composed creatively, with thoughful attention to design Wonderful walk through so many ideas, and the thought leaders of the western world Easy for a young person to approach this and ignite ideas Wonderful source, and a delight to read I can t wait to give this as a gift, and see the awe transform them.

    19. Fantastic overview of the history of scientific inquiry Loved Loved Loved nerding out over different fields biology, physics, astronomy, etc I wish I could have read this in high school to get me hooked on these different subjects sooner Very good read for a budding scientist, or anyone interested in science as a whole.

    20. A very readable and entertaining book that provides a helpful overview of what s happened in the history of science I ve read several of these big books with graphics and liked each of them Recommended

    21. This is was not a cover to cover read for me, but it is a great reference book I now understand Big Bang Theory show references better than before

    22. Nice chronology of physics, chemistry, biology and geology The focus is on physics though Unfortunately, some times I felt that the authors referenced concepts they hadn t introduced yet.

    23. As always DK Publishing does not disappoint I also won an advanced copy of this book It is packed with information on many subjects Share it with the kiddies

    24. Amazing chronology of science Complex scientific phenomena explained simply Fantastic book would make a great gift
