    1. Thomas s voice is incredible, so solid I enjoyed the mix of fiction and poetry With some of the stories, I balked at the themes of redemption and forgiveness my problem probably, not the book s I do hold a grudge A really worthwhile read though, full of beautiful language and striking imagery.

    2. Gorgeous poetry and prose, rooted deep in African American history Myths of runaway slaves, love poetry, crickets and grasshoppers, floods a strange compelling retelling of The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
