    1. Knight of Pleasure was an unexpectedly pleasurable read Ha Get it cue cymbals I have a certain track record with medieval romances that is to say, I avoid them, but Knight demonstrated none of the problems I associate with that genre.Margaret Mallory s characters are refreshingly human, rather than primitives with poor technology I begin to see the appeal of the period, even though Mallory makes no bones about the drawbacks of the times too People are stinky, events take place over months throug [...]

    2. My review Wow Another fun read from Margaret Mallory, who has such a knack for storytelling Stephen Carlton and Lady Isobel Hume made for some interesting and hot reading Both were people who put aside their own wants and feelings to do whatever was necessary for the greater good and that just happens to be one of my favorite historical romance themes the hero and heroine are kept apart by forces outside of their control, and have to battle not only the treachery around them, but their own emoti [...]

    3. My review contains spoilers and they re mostly my thoughts as I went with the bookMargaret Mallory s Knight of Pleasure was quite a disappointment for me, especially if I compare it with book 1 Even though the historical aspects along with the actions later part of the book were very good, the central characters and plotline left much to be said Sad, because I was really anticipating Stephen s book I wasn t into the story at least for the 75% of it and was totally thinking about a lower grade, w [...]

    4. Isobel has not had luck in love Her father forced her to marry a very old man to gain enough money to buy back his lands from King Henry after losing them from siding against the King Luckily for Isobel, her first husband dies after a short time and she is free of that misery but awaits her Her late husband leaves all of his property to a very conniving man one that Isobel wants nothing to do with In desperation, she is given an option marry a man that will help the King of England secure an al [...]

    6. For a medieval historical romance I thought this was actually pretty good In theory I like medieval romances, but most of them in my opinion are pretty bad There s usually some SUPER ALPHA male hero who comes off to me as a big bully and I don t like how a lot of the one s I ve read contain rape scenes I know rape, especially for the medieval period, was quite a common threat for a woman But I don t want to read about it However this was actually really good and seemed to take the historical per [...]

    7. Knight of Pleasure is another brilliant installment in Margaret Mallory s All the King s Men series The trademarks of her storytelling style that I ve come to love are present A rich historical backdrop, compelling characters, an exciting plot, and a sexy romance In other words, it had me turning pages through the night like But ya know With me actually reading it and not turning them so fast it was all a blur A little disclaimer The blurb on the book says, Lady Isobel Hume is an expert swordswo [...]

    8. This is the second in the All the King s Men series and, as noted in my review of Knight of Desire, is being read because the third book in the series is being read by my book club and I as I ve stated before, I m a firm believer that series should be read in order. In this book, Prince Harry is now King Henry and his armies have recently taken Burgundy in France Our two star struck lovers are Sir Stephen Carleton and Lady Isobel Hume Sir Carleton is the half brother of Lord William FitzAlan, who [...]

    9. Absolutely loved this one The characters were strong, the plot well thought out and it had the perfect amount of action to keep you flipping pages I found myself tossing the book down in frustration several times and walking away only to come back within the hour unable to keep away I loved Stephen I knew I would from the first book, but he exceeded my expectations Isobel was a good character even though she wavered just a bit to me, one instant she was strong and defiant, then she was gullible [...]

    10. I m fairly neutral on this one Wasn t good, wasn t bad, hence the two star rating Neither the hero nor heroine really stood out for me as anything special I didn t like the whole sacrificing for the king aspect of the novel, where Isobel feels she must marry de Roche, as if political negotiations are hinging on this one marriage Also, hearing about Henry being the divine ruler didn t sit well with me either And the sex scenes felt cold to me, as if something was missing. My one big caveat about t [...]

    11. Medieval romances are my favorite books and Margaret Mallory didn t disappoint The damsel in distress wasn t completely helpless and was of a helpmate to her Knight rather then a goddess on a pedestal Another feature of romances that bores me after a while is virginity and the inevitable loss of it by the heroine However, in this novel Isobel has already been married to a jerk so loss of viginity scene is skipped Also Stephen s love of Isobel makes him want to be a better man which is something [...]

    13. Margaret Mallory s Knight of Pleasure is a first rate medieval romance. These are often not done well However, Mallory combines romance and history effectively to create a sensual yet fast paced, exciting novel I look forward to her next book in this series.Jacqueline Seewald

    14. This book was a giveaway My first and only win so far I do enjoy this time period, but for some reason, I just did not feel a connection to the story or the characters I have not read this author before, but would consider giving her another try.

    15. the heroine was an ass but the hero and the supporting characters made up for it and made me enjoy this book

    16. Knight of Pleasure All the King s Men 2 by Margaret MalloryGenre Historical Romance Maine characters Stephen Carlton and Lady Isobel HumePrince Harry is now King Henry and his armies have recently taken Burgundy in France Our two star struck lovers are Sir Stephen Carleton and Lady Isobel Hume Sir Carleton is the half brother of Lord William FitzAlan, who was raised from about age 12 by FitzAlan and his wife, and is now serving the King at Caen Castle in Burgundy Stephen is quite the ladies man [...]

    17. As before, I really do appreciate MM s effort for historical accuracy and the author s note at the end to explain any deviations I was so taken with the both the plot and character development in Knight of Desire that I couldn t start this next book in the series soon enough Especially given how endearing Stephen had become WOW So the detail is historically accurate, the hero is a rake but one with honor, yet we are given a headstrong heroine who is willing to marry horrific men out of duty unti [...]

    18. Lady Isobel Hume has been betrayed by the men in her life Firstly, her father weds her to the highest bidder a very old man whom luckily for her dies shortly after they are wed Then before she can rejoice at the fact that she is finally out of her terrible marriage, she finds that her late husband has left all his fortune to someone else, leaving her with no choice other than to marry the man who now claims her lands or be at the mercy of their King The King feels that Isobel can best be used to [...]

    19. Originally reviewed at devastatingreadspspot I really love historical romances I perfer them over contemporary romances in fact, and probably love them as much as paranormal romance But so far, the series All the King s Men hasn t devastated me In the first book, I really understood and felt for the hero, William FitzAlan I was annoyed with the heroine, Catherine, but I could at least understand where she was coming from In this second book, Knight of Pleasure, I just felt sorry for our hero, St [...]

    20. Isobel is the apple of her fathers eye She is everything he s ever wanted in a child Headstrong, courageous, beautiful and smart So when he gives her in marriage to a man who is practically ancient, she feels as if she was betrayed in the worst way possible When her husband dies he leaves her with no other option but to agree to wed a French noble man to help form a political alliance.Stephen is a womanizer, and an amazing solider However, he is looking for something even though he doesn t know [...]

    21. Overall Rating 4.85 Action 4.5 Emotion 4 Romance 4 Sensuous 2 Suspense 4 Medieval Flavor 4.5 Laughter 0 Teary 3Knight of Pleasure, the second book in Margaret Mallory s All The King s Men Trilogy is a must read those who enjoy a good medieval romance It contains 1 a hunky, exceptionally skilled honorable knight who is fun, charming, charismatic and a ladies man who finally falls for his soul mate 2 a beautiful, intelligent, emotionally damaged but warm hearted heroine, who struggles to find a wa [...]

    22. Twas a nice historical romance. We start with Isobel, as a child she was headstrong and learned to sword fight with the boys Her father, in an attempt to get back his lands that were taken because he turned against the king, married her off to an old rich dude Isobel suffers through the marriage until the old man dies Then Isobel learns that some jack ass tricked her dead husband into leaving the lands to him instead of her, and now she was supposed to marry the jackass The Bishop gives her a cho [...]

    23. Lady Isobel Hume has been betrayed by the men in her life too often Her father married her off to a much older man in exchange for riches It hardly seems fair that after Lady Isobel Hume survived eight years of a difficult and loveless marriage, she discovers that her husband has left the entire estate to a stranger who made the dubious claim of being his son out of wedlock Lady Isobel refuses to marry her husband s heir and instead agrees to accept a marriage arranged by her king to further the [...]

    24. I have read quite a few blogs in which people have mentioned how much they enjoyed this book, and well, I am jumping on the bandwagon It is a delightful light read, perfect for an afternoon at the beach, a hot bubble bath or in front of a fireplace on a cold Canadian winters night well maybe not this years winter, but you get the picture The characters are interesting and not one dimensional which is something you don t often find in historical romance novels The book has a riveting storyline th [...]

    25. Knight of Pleasure by Margaret Mallory is a savory delight that is sure to please This is book two of the series of three and even delectable than it s previous installment in book one Most assuredly Margaret Mallory is an author with much promise and passion to keep us satisfied for quite some time.Lady Isobel Hume is a sight to behold Married off to an old man in her early teens, she has been through hell and back with a marriage made of profits to both sides instead of one of love Now that h [...]

    26. I have read a ton of romance novels, many of them excellent, some not so excellent This book is the first romance novel I have ever read that truly captures the essence of raw lust It actually places your brain in the equation and you can see the characters, their feelings, emotions, and the total scope of the decisions they are making when they choose to be together It is breathe taking and totally amazingly writtenI was in complete shock as I was turning each page, that it continued to be the [...]

    27. I enjoyed this second book in this series just as much as the first Seeing Stephen sexy redhead grown and out making a name for himself in and out of bed was nice He was a likeable character, no matter how much of rake he was, he was still honorable and seeking what his brother found in Catherine in the first book I liked Isobel too, even though, at some points the damned woman was working my nerves being too scared and thinking Stephen would hurt her UGH I get it but still But I guess that is w [...]

    28. I loved this book I m really disappointed to now realize it is the second book in the series GRRRR I hate starting a series in the middle I notice after reading some romance novels, that sometimes the story line is a little weak, or I don t really feel that the two characters have fallen in love, rather than in lust But I thought that there was a lot of relationship development in this book between Stephen and Isobel I loved reading how Stephen, the man s man, a different woman every night, just [...]

    29. Being a fan of historical fiction, I figured this book would be a nice way to ease into reading romance Yes, this is the first romance novel I ve read completely through Normally I give up a couple chapters in, so having finished says a little something I liked that there was some action in the book and that the main character could handle a blade I liked the alternating POV chapters and really liked Stephen s chapters It was about the last quarter of the story where I just began to really get a [...]
