    1. It s extremely hard to write a proper review of this book It was such a nice little gem. This is a novel about life, death and everything in between friendship, love, growing up, finding yourself etc I thought I had the ending figured out from the beginning, but it turned out I didn t Not at all I did not see that one coming And still, I sit here now, thinking that it was the way it could have ended It tied up everything The writing of this book is what really mattered to me Normally, I don t rea [...]

    3. In the parlance of the book itself this novella is a odd little runaway Donkster, 3.5 coy little twinkling stars Some possible comparisons Bill Bryson s A Walk in the Woods as written by Camus, Sartre, or de Beauvoir Or maybe written by them, but translated by Bryson Or, Le Petit Prince if it had been written as a travelogue by Bill Bryson Or that movie with James Franco where he s the hiker who gets stuck in the crevasse, only it is Audrey Tautou instead of Franco, and Audrey Tautou is also pla [...]

    4. This was like 3.5 stars.I will read anything written by Gavalda that I can get my hands on And given the reviews on GR, I seem to be one of the few Americans hi Suzanne who has read her, as most of the reviews for this book are written in French Her books are either a bit hit or big miss with me This was almost a miss, but I stuck with it a miss because I didn t like the narrator AT ALL Since she told us her life story, I know why Billie was the way she was, but I didn t want to spend any time [...]

    7. 3.5 stars, reallyllie is a raw and jarring novel from one of my favourite writers anna gavalda has written wonderfully about pain, belonging, love, and outcasts in her past works, so it is not surprising to encounter these themes again in this newest book i will admit i was really surprised gavalda reused character names from Hunting and Gathering franck and camille i must get to the bottom of this unlike her past stories, though, there is a sharpness, an edge, to billie as the story unfolds, it [...]

    12. DNF about 50 pages in.It was the informal language used that did it for me Despite only being around 150 pages, I struggled to get through the 50 I did I will be checking out the authors other books to see if this is just her writing style, as the characters and plot I did get to didn t seem terrible, they just weren t enough for me to push pass the language.

    13. I like Anna Gavalda a lot, the way she writes about people, love, pain and so on But this one didn t catch me at all It s full of clich s Bad ones The story is supposed to be inspiring or funny, I guess, but it stay somewhere in between and than nothing the finale is also disappointing.

    14. One of the most delightful books I ve read in the last 10 years or so is Anna Gavalda s Hunting and Gathering, Ensemble, C est tout in the French original As recently as last moth, I was delighted that one of my library reading groups nearly all over 50, and Anglophone almost unanimously found the story set in present day Paris amusing, encouraging and, yes, at moments profound. In the novel Camille a near anorexic young painter , Franck a chef with a grandmother he loves but can t see very often [...]

    15. Ensemble pour Tous , was one of the first French novels that I read for fun and liked Good vacation reading Loved the coimmunal living with the love story between polar opposites thrown in Okay, it was not a mind blowing read but a good, relaxed sit on the couch on Sunday morning and devour read I read Je l aimais too definitely hit a chord gave it to my ex when we got divorced So have felt through the years that Gavalda was a trustworthy, go to, writer when I wanted a break and hadn t read in F [...]
