    1. Angelguard starts off with a bang Three separate terrorist attacks in different parts of the world throw people into chaos A group of very ordinary characters become unlikely heroes as they stumble onto a path of secrets that lead them not only to the identify of those responsible, but a plan for a fourth deadly crime. This in itself would have made for a great thriller, but below the surface of all of this we get a glimpse into the spiritual realm, where angels and demons are actively involved i [...]

    2. A very good debut novel by Ian Acheson The pace is than enough to keep you wanting and coming back for same The plot is well constructed and flows well Characters you can relate to and are believable.I feel it is inevitable that any novel that concerns angels versus demons, both interacting with humans, the former to strengthen the Christian s relationship with God or to bring an unbeliever to God, and the latter to destroy a Christian s relationship with God and keep the unbeliever from God, [...]

    3. Let me begin by admitting I m not a huge fan of supernatural thrillers in the Frank Peretti mode To me, the world building which is a necessary part of a fantasy or science fiction novel invariably seems to be lacking and, instead, the spirit world is simply an unseen parallel to our own The rich and eerie strangeness of the otherworld which characterises good speculative fiction simply isn t there Angels who experience pumping adrenaline, who bleed profusely and who speak of getting revenge I m [...]

    4. I enjoyed reading Ian Acheson s supernatural thriller It was fast paced with lots of action, some twists and turns and a touch of romance I particularly liked the way Jack Haines was portrayed as a caring family man and the impact tragedy has on ordinary people Ian uses an omniscient pov to present the interaction between the unseen spiritual combatants the angelguard and the opposing demons with the human drama that unfolds following three horrific terrorist attacks in London, New York and Sydn [...]

    5. I really enjoyed reading Angelguard, the debut novel by Australian author Ian Acheson The cover looks scary, but I was quickly drawn into the physical and spiritual story worlds The book starts in the middle of the action, with the main characters caught up in horrific terrorist attacks We live through their pain and angst over losing loved ones, and journey with them as they rebuild their lives and face even greater challenges.I loved the way the plot intertwined, and all the story threads came [...]

    6. This reminds me of Frank Peretti s This Present Darkness and Piercing the Darkness, although on a global scale as this encompasses events in the US, Australia, England, France and Germany. It is a story told on 2 levels the story of the people trying to cause chaos and anarchy, murder and mayhem around the world, and even just in itself this was an intriguing story However, the second level involves happenings in the spirit world, with the supernatural battle being waged between good and evil, a [...]

    7. Debut novelist Ian Acheson storms into the publishing world with Angelguard, the first in a supernatural trilogy that pits angels against demons, terrorists against civilians and a University professor against a Machiavellian businessman With shades of Peretti s early novels, Acheson delves into the heavenly realm with both angelic and demonic characters taking centre stage in battles unseen by the humans they both pursue The demons are grotesque, spiteful and exude evil in contrast to members o [...]

    8. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil s schemes For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled aro [...]

    10. 16. My thoughts Angelguard is a work of fiction and the reader must on every page realize that as pertaining to Scriptural beings the author has created angels and demons with personalities and traits rather human in nature.Ian Acheson has written a very well developed and exciting story about an evil, Satanic plot involving depraved humans to create havoc, terrorism, and utter ruin of the political entities and systems of the World Acheson also uses a brilliant university professor, Jack Haines, as [...]

    17. Okay, I admit, when I first saw the book trailer I was both intrigued and a little nervous Here was a book about the supernatural I ll be honest and just say I grew up reading Frank Peretti s Darkness novels, some of my favorite books when I was younger, and I was excited to read something about the supernatural and also somewhat hesitant because I wasn t sure what to expect. But I m glad to say that I was not disappointed On the contrary, for whatever reason my expectations weren t that high, bu [...]

    18. I won this in a giveaway. This is a very fast paced multi national and realm novel that intertwines angels and demons with our lives There is some weird wording, abnormal sentence structure, and emphasis via exclamation points in places that don t feel entirely appropriate for it That, along with some confusion because of how much goes on in just a 380 page book, brings my rating from a 4 star to a 3 star review I absolutely love the message of prayer, love, redemption, forgiveness, and hope We a [...]

    29. Normally when a book is compared to Peretti s This Present Darkness i m skeptical Until now i ve not read any books that actually live up to that promise In this case, however, i d say Mr Acheson does a very good job of writing a compelling story within the genre without turning out a story that s just a pale shadow of the books that set the standard.Angelguard is complex, intriguing, and well executed adventure that spans both the world we see and the one of which we only experience the effects [...]
