1 thought on “The Dark Goodbye, Vol. 1

    1. An interesting storyline and melding of noir horror The artwork is beautfully creepy but it was sometimes hard to understand what was happening through the progression lay out of the panels Glad I read it, but not pulled in enough to seek out book 2.

    2. This was an interesting little read It was a blend of noir detective story with horror a la Lovecraft Mutt Manson is hired to find a young damsel, but it turns out there is to her disappearance The local mobster is involved as well as a local industrialist who controls a lot of the city The plot at times is a bit hard to follow, but it still reels you in I pretty much read this in one sitting The gritty line drawing art style matches the setting and story well While not the greatest manga I hav [...]

    3. This relied heavily on The Big Sleep e.g Bogart with a very strong Lovecraft ian twist It s a lot darker than I m used to, but I had just watched the movie and was disappointed not amused by how much of the story was ripped off even with all the twists The drawings and plot were also very hard to follow The style was mood setting and I liked that , but when you re telling a story through pictures, the pictures really should be legible enough to carry the story While this is the first of a series [...]

    4. I loved this book and the art is out of this world The storyline is greatabout a hardboiled dective hired to find a missing rich girl Seems like an ez case until everything goes crazy I love everything about this book and Volume 2BUT what happened to the series I can t find anything on themif anyone knows anything please let me know Thank you.Even with just the first two books it is the worth it to read themyou won t be sorry.

    5. An odd blend of Raymond Chandler and H P Lovecraft that mostly works I found the artist s style to be a little distracting at times, but he had a flair for the strange and weird The writer did a good job on the film noir parts, but only okay on the Lovecraftian parts, adding a little too much slapstick at the wrong moments, spoiling the mood a bit.Still, it was a clever idea and mostly well done.

    6. Lovecraft x Noir, in a modernish setting there seem to be cell phones, anyway It s not bad, but the art style made it hard for me to follow which characters were doing what I don t know if this would be or less of a problem for vertebrate eyes.

    7. A very, very strange story Great but greatly confusing drawings No real explanation of what s going on I felt lost the entire way through I think I only finished it because it was so short Maybe the next ones would be better.

    8. This comic was very confusing for me, I couldnt follow what was happening between chapters For all the Huff I ve heard about it, I wasnt impressed.

    9. Un pastiche de lugares comunes que recrea el Horror C smico de Lovecraft bajo el prisma noir de Raymond Chandler Buenas caracterizaciones e interesante estilo de dibujo.

    10. Nice artwork It s like grotesque manga noir Intrigued yet Wait till you meet the man eating venus fly trap It s that kind of a book.

    11. Lovecraft mythos expertly combined with Chandleresque detective work in an appropriately dark BW comic Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys mythos stories.
