1 thought on “The Snow Bride

    1. The Snow Bride if full of imaginative ideas and if you re inclined towards the fairy tale you will enjoy The Snow Bride The war torn hero of the Crusades has to work to gain the love of redheaded Elfrida, a good witch, though it doesn t happen immediately and he is endearingly surprised that it eventually does happen Magnus is a very likeable hero consistent in his support for the rash Elfrida who is willing to sacrifice herself to the Necromancer who has snatched her sister Sadly, I found a con [...]

    2. OkI found this book to be overall, just o.k There were many things I liked, the setting, the characters, and some things I just wasn t keen on the writing style it felt like it was all show and no tell and that made it rather confusing here and there.

    3. This historical romance is no sugar coated, pasteurised version of 12th century merrie olde England, but a fast paced story of fear and loss, hope and love set in a wintry Medieval landscape readers can taste and smell, can almost touch No chivalry, here, between knights making a life after returning from Outreimer the golden ladies in their rich gowns are terrified sex slaves, and Elfrida may well be joining them. The author does a brilliant job of making her characters live within their time pe [...]

    4. I ve read plenty of books and enjoyed them all, but there have been a few which stand out above all the rest The Snow Bride is one of these Well written in narration, character description, and dialogue, I fell asleep reading it each night not because it was boring but because I didn t want to put it down The scenes between Magnus and Elfrida are a delight give and take, full of near poetic description and wit The depicting of the hero as less than perfect and ugly, is unusual and in lesser hand [...]

    5. An engrossing medieval romance In a small English village in 1131, wisewoman Elfrida prepares her sister for marriage, but on the eve of the wintery marriage, her sister is kidnapped The men of the village appeal to Magnus, a nearby Lord who fought in the Crusdades and returned home missing a hand and a foot and bearing a scarred face.Magnus seeks wholeness and a lady of his own instead, he ends up rescuing Elfrida as she s trying to sacrifice herself to the monster who has now stolen three brid [...]

    6. I read this novel during a summer heatwave, but the scenes of ice and snow were so vividly described I was easily swept into this medieval love story Magnus is a magnificent hero ugly and battle scarred, he is the heroic beast to the healer Elfrida s beauty. The scenes between these two lovers were both passionate and witty They are drawn into a battle with evil, and the danger that lurks in the frozen forests is like a palpable presence. This is a passionate read, and full of suspense, and I thor [...]

    7. This is a medieval fairy tale The imagery and descriptions of the snowy winter and the landscapes were amazing Elfrida is a witch feared by the townsfolk and Sir Magnus is a scarred hero They unite to find a monstrous creature who steals brides, the last one being Elfrida s sister They fall in love in a mystical setting, a charming story full of magic and romance.

    8. This is a Beauty the Beast tale with a few twists Set in the 1100s, it has knights, castles, chivalry, witchcraft and sex smouldering in a snowbound landscape Enjoy

    9. I recommend, The Snow Bride by Lindsay Townsend The audiobook was well engineered and the reading, by Victoria Scott, was musical. The story was an adventure into medieval England Characters were expressive and engaging The scenes were descriptive and inviting in most cases. There were scenes that were scary and full of tension keeping the reader entertained and interested. The part I liked best about Lindsay s book was the hope and the love expressed by the hero and heroine They had to find a comm [...]

    10. I always tend to give things four stars The characters, Magnus and Elfrida were very real and engaging, I loved their love story There were points where I got confused The author needed to clarify some of her descriptions But it wasn t so bad that I lost what basically happened This was a nice twist on Beauty and the Beast

    11. I thought the first half of the story was flat and one dimensional it did get better the second half which is why I gave it 3 stars but the character development in the beginning was lacking
